The 2014 Naperville Jaycees are pleased to present Smash Mouth and Vertical Horizon as 2014 Last Fling Main Stage Headliners on Sunday, August 31.
Smash Mouth’s first 2 major label releases; The Double Platinum “Fush Yu Mang” and Triple Platinum “Astro Lounge”, boast four top-ten hits; “All-Star,” “Walkin’ on the Sun,” “Then the Morning Comes,” and “I’m a Believer.” They’re back with their newest work, 2012’s “MAGIC.”
“MAGIC” is an album of original material which reflects their signature, hi-octane sound. The first single “Magic,” captured the band’s infectious grooves and irreverent lyrics and peaked at No. 22 atop the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart. In recent years, Smash Mouth has focused on touring and entertaining troops in Japan, Guam, Guantanamo Bay, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
In 1999, Vertical Horizon experienced meteoric success with “Everything You Want,” selling over 2 million copies. The title song captured the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Adult Top 40 charts, and went on to become the most played single of 2000. The band earned further radio attention with “You’re a God,” No. 4 on Billboard’s Adult Chart and “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning),” which became a 2005 top 20 country hit for country star, Gary Allan.
As a follow-up in 2003, the band released album, “Go.” Tracks such as “Inside,” “I’m Still Here,” and “Forever” provided true commercial appeal, whereas deeper tracks, like “When You Cry,” “Sunshine,” and “Echo” kept the band established as a no-nonsense rock entity. Vertical Horizon is currently touring in support of “Burning the Days.” During their high energy shows the band plays off each other with an almost feverish dynamic energy, drawing the fans into a riveting musical experience at every show. Vertical Horizon is what it always has been: a vibrant, growing musical entity.
Vertical Horizon and Smash Mouth will perform at the Last Fling Main Stage, located at the base of Rotary Hill near Naperville’s famed Riverwalk, beginning at 6PM on Sunday, August 31.
