At 7:48 PM on Sunday evening July 14, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from the resident at 30W110 Bruce Lane reporting that their garage was on fire. PSAP immediately dispatched a General Alarm assignment which brought ten pieces of fire apparatus and 24 fire personnel to the scene.
The first unit arrived on the scene at 7:49PM and reported that the detached garage was fully involved with fire. The crew began an aggressive fire suppression attack. As additional fire units arrived, crews assisted with the extinguishment of the fire while others began salvage and overhaul operations. The fire was brought under control in about ten minutes and was contained to the garage.
The damage to the garage is extensive and is estimated to be approximately $80,000. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation. The Plainfield, Lisle-Woodridge and Winfield Fire Departments provided coverage at three of Naperville’s fire stations during this incident.
There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters.
