Looking under the hood is usually more attractive than at the top. This Alfa Romeo logo creates an exception.

PN UPDATE, June 22, 2014 / Forty-nine preregistered car owners geared up for the International Car Show Sunday at CityGate Centre, and, according to organizer Kerry Kirkley of Double K Car Shows, by the time it ended, 100 car collectors had displayed their vehicles in the first-time event near Hotel Arista.

One of the attractions to car shows, participants said, is that they’re usually put on to benefit a good cause. Sunday’s show was organized to benefit Cal’s All-Star Angel Foundation.

According to Judy Cunningham of Chicago, owner of a 1985 Alfa Romeo Spider for the last two-and-a-half years, international car shows are few and far between, so she was thrilled to enter her Italian-made sports car in the show at CityGate.

By the end of the show, she and fellow car owner, Tom Cunningham, were even more impressed, trophy in hand.

“Everything about the show was elegant,” she said. “Top notch and full of class.”
