UPDATE June 14, 2014 / Progress continues on Main Street Promenade East in downtown Naperville. Build-out by individual tenants is now in progress.
The photos below appeared in the June print edition of Positively Naperville.
Work on the much anticipated – and much watched – Main Street Promenade East shows progress every day in downtown Naperville. The attractive retail development by BBM Incorporated that complements Main Street Promenade is expected to open in time for the 2014 holiday season. The building will complete the Van Buren Parking Facility facade.

Head to Will County for a view of the 95th Street Bridge Project, being constructed in two phases to extend 95th Street over the DuPage River for a more direct connection between Plainfield-Naperville and Boughton roads.
In late May, PN visited the first phase of the 95th Street Bridge Project, under construction since May 2013. The new bridge over the West Branch of the DuPage River will connect the roadway from just west of Cheyenne Drive in Naperville to just south of Boughton Road in Bolingbrook. Construction on Phase 1 began in May 2013.
Bridge construction appears complete with evidence of underground utilities and stormwater detention. The noise walls are up along 95th Street in Naperville. Completion of the roadway work is set to begin followed by the bike path installation and landscaping. Weather conditions permitting, Phase 1 is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the fall 2014.
Construction on Phase 2 is expected to begin in the fall of 2014 with completion by the end of 2015.
For more information, visit the city’s website and search for “95th Street Bridge to Bolingbrook.”
FYI: The Will County Department of Highways is in charge of the 95th Street Bridge Project. The Village of Bolingbrook and the City of Naperville are financial partners. In addition, the City of Naperville secured federal funding through the Surface Transportation Program for a portion of the construction costs.
The Route 59 Expansion Project kicked off nearly 10 months ago and will help ease congestion when it is complete in 2015. With progress comes delays which can test patience.
Work on the much anticipated—and much watched—Main Street Promenade East also shows progress every day. The attractive retail development that complements Main Street Promenade is expected to open in time for the 2014 holiday season. The building will complete the Van Buren Parking Facility façade.
