Volunteer – Joseph Mensik
Organization – Naperville Jaycees
The Jaycees are Naperville’s young person’s organization dedicated to philanthropy and volunteerism – building Naperville’s future leaders. From holiday food baskets to their annual Easter egg hunt, the Jaycees help the community by volunteering time, fundraising, helping others and recognizing outstanding effort of others within the community. www.naperjaycees.org

Joseph Mensik is a likable guy.
Always carrying a smile and steady handshake, Joe is generous of spirit by nature. It’s not surprising his neighbor, a long-time Naperville Jaycee, would encourage him to join the organization.
After many months, Joe finally decided to volunteer at the Last Fling. At some point during the 4-day event weekend, a philanthropist was born.
As a Jaycee, Joe saw opportunity for personal growth. He recognized the skills he would acquire while volunteering would strengthen his career path as well. A natural leader, Joe spends much of his time mentoring newer members and is a reliable touchstone for others.
During his tenure with the organization, Joe has taken on various roles. He currently sits on the Board of Directors and most recently was Chairperson for another successful “Comedy Night” fundraiser.
Regardless of his position within the organization, Joe is singularly focused to help those in need. He is forever questioning not only himself but others within the organization.
How will this event benefit the community? How can we do better? Can we run leaner to cut costs and give more?
Joe and his wife, Laurel, lead by example for their children; demonstrating the importance of giving back. While boxing up care packages or delivering food door-to-door at holiday time, their daughters learn compassion and earn the emotional reward which follows community service.
Joe is the epitome of what it means to be a member of the US Junior Chamber: a teacher, a volunteer, a friend.
Volunteer of the month is sponsored by Naperville Bank & Trust, serving Naperville with three locations, 555 Fort Hill Dr., 1205 S. Naper Blvd. and 5 S. Washington in the historic downtown post office. For more info, visit www.banknaperville.com.
