The West Suburban Irish will hold the 2014 Quiz Night Championship at Quigley’s Irish Pub, 43 E. Jefferson Ave. in downtown Naperville, beginning at 7PM Tuesday night. Trivia buffs are encouraged to assemble teams, not larger than 10, to test their knowledge and win prizes. Prizes are awarded at the end of each round in addition to overall points and best team name. Previous quiz play is not required for the Championship and every team starts at zero points.

NCC welcomes Nobel Peace Prize recipient Tawakkol Karman of Yemen to give a talk about her experiences as a journalist, politician and human rights activist at 7:30PM Tues, June 3, at Wentz Concert, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Karman is the youngest, the first Yemeni, first Arab woman and second Muslim woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize. The event is free.

To celebrate local legend and lore, Positively Naperville will host the inaugural ‘Take back the County Seat.’ The social gathering with sumptuous food and libations will begin at 5:30PM on Wed., June 4, in the Tavern of the Pre-Emption House at Naper Settlement. The aim is to distinguish fact from fiction as the city’s rich history is revealed for residents who might not be familiar with all of its twists and turns since 1831. During the evening’s festivities, Naper Settlement Curator of Research, Bryan Ogg, will present a history of the Raid and offer explanations of fact and fiction. Several ‘Pitch-Fork Awards’ will be presented to unsuspecting guests. The evening will include food by Chef Terrell Cole of Dark Horse Pastries and libations. Festivities will conclude around 9PM. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Naperville Heritage Society. The Naperville Municipal Band is celebrating its 155th season by kicking off its summer concert series at 7:30PM Thursday, June 5, with the theme, ‘Strike Up the Band,’ featuring the eighth-grade scholarship winners. The band has 11 free concerts held every Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. from June 5 to Aug. 14 with the exception of the patriotic concert on Wednesday, July 2, at the Community Concert Center in Naperville’s Central Park, 104 E. Benton Ave. The band is directed by Ron Keller and Assistant Director Ren Rosas. Each concert also has an ice cream social, sponsored by a local not-for-profit.
