The Art of Connecting – Let there be music this summer

-

Summer weather has arrived—hopefully to stay! I always like to start the summer with musical entertainment. Because my choir does not meet in the summer, I need my fix of music and theatre. Some amazing performances will be staged in June that I’m excited to see.

haselhorstFor starters, pianist Mac Frampton will perform at 8PM, Mon., June 2, at Monarch Landing, 2255 Monarch Dr.

Hailed by Billboard Magazine, Frampton will perform his unique repertoire of piano classics, from classic James Bond to Tchaikovsky. A performer for the better part of four decades, Frampton is sure to amaze! To reserve tickets in advance and/or for more information, call (630) 778-3798.

Brightside Theatre, presents the musical “CABARET”! Love, laughter, and life in 1930‘s Berlin all come together to create one great show. The show is held on weekends in the theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall at North Central College June 13-29.

Showtime is 8PM on Friday and Saturdays and 3PM on Sundays. Tickets are available at www.brightsidetheatre.com or (630) 637-7469 Ticket prices $20-$24.

If the music of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra suits your fancy, you’re in luck! The Morton Arboretum will be hosting outdoor concerts on three nights in June beginning at 7:30PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and refreshments.

On Thurs., June 26, the concert will feature musical excerpts from Oscar-nominated films. Then on Fri., June 27, enjoy a classical repertoire from masters Tchaikovsky and Beethoven. On Sat., June 28, stringed instruments will shine as the orchestra plays Dvorák’s New World Symphony.

Tickets for Thursday’s concert are $45 and Friday and Saturday’s shows are $40. The Morton Arboretum is located at 4100 Illinois Route 53 in Lisle.

Whether you’re a music person or not, experience a show or performance going on somewhere nearby indoors or out— a perfect start to summer.
