This year marks the 27th Ribfest, July 3-6, in Knoch Park. Little did any of us Exchange Club members imagine in 1988 that this annual fundraising barbecue festival would grow to be such a huge success.
I have a great team made up of Matt Kaley and Eric Jungnickle who help with all of those decisions.
This year we are trying something new that will take place on the Ribber’s Row Stage in the South Park. From 1-2:30PM on Thurs., July 3, Radio Disney’s Road Crew will be out to entertain the children.
And Million Dollar Quartet will perform from 8:30PM right before the Fireworks on July 4.
New Hispanic Day is July 5
Then on Sat., July 5, Ribfest will host its first-ever Hispanic Day, featuring the music of Viaje, La Obre, Rio Bamba, Contrabanda Live, and del Castillo on the new Ribber’s Row Stage.
To finish off the four-day weekend schedule on the Ribber’s Row Stage, the bands on Sunday will feature great guitarists. If you love a variety of music, 2014 Ribfest is the place to be.
First up, Bo Deans perform on July 3; Country Music Day is the theme for July 4; Roger Hodgson, formerly of Super Tramp, will play on July 5; and a fun-filled day is planned when Fog Hat, Blue Oyster Cult and George Thorogood take the Main Stage on July 6.
The Exchange Club of Naperville is the sponsoring service organization of this community event. The funds raised go back into the community to organizations that follow our mission of the prevention of child abuse and domestic violence.
Maybe I’ll see you at Knoch Park July 3 through July 6 – you know where I’ll be.
