Golfers have their place at the club; pilots have their place at the hangar – now motoring enthusiasts have their place at the Iron Gate Motor Condos – Chicagoland’s first, exclusive residence for your classic, collector or exotic vehicle.  The Iron Gate facility offers owners a highly secure, controlled environment and the camaraderie of frequent car shows and events.

Owner and developer Tom Burgess, (www.BurgessCommercial.com), will bring the motoring enthusiast’s community to life in Naperville.  Burgess is a local builder and developer with a focus on innovative space solutions for small and medium size businesses with decades of experience in the Chicago market.  “As a car enthusiast myself,” said Burgess, “I look forward to providing our owners with a quality space and community that helps fuel their passion.”

Phase I will include 13 buildings on roughly 40 acres on Ferry Rd. just West of Rt. 59.  Each building will have units ranging from 1,150 to 16,000 square feet that will be sold as condominiums.  The property will have a gated entry and motion cameras, but the public will be able to sneak a peek once or twice a month at open house events.

A little more than half of the property will remain open space, including a nature preserve and a walking trail.  Phase II will feature car related businesses such as repair facilities, a detail shop, equipment suppliers, insurance offices and food service. Three businesses have already signed on.

car2Owners could store multiple cars, boats, motorcycles, motor homes and other vehicles in the space and also create a customized place to relax in the loft area. Some in other locations have installed amenities like kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, fireplaces and even a basketball court. However, owners will not be allowed to live on-site full time.

“What this product offers is that place where you can enjoy your passion with other like-minded folks,” Burgess said. He estimates the starting price for entry level units to be $120,000 and said they all will come with loft space, radiant heat, complete electric, fire sprinkler, plumbing, floor drain, large 14 x 18 ft. overhead doors– ready for owner’s final finishes for their ultimate home-away-from home.

An ombudsman is Scandinavian in origin dating back to Viking times; and refers to a community representative; usually acting independently on behalf of an organization, body of elected officials, or civic group. Thanks Scandinavia for inventing ombudsman.
