Got the oh-my-gosh-I-wish-winter-was-over blues? Cheer up. Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA) has an event that will warm your heart. So, shed the blues and don the Black & Red!

WDSRA Foundation’s Black & Red Bash celebrates the many children, teens, and adults with disabilities that are served through WDSRA’s recreational programs and services. The charitable event takes place 6-10PM on Saturday, March 8 at the Abbington in Glen Ellyn.

Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be the gracious Dave McGowan, President of The DuPage Community Foundation. Singer/songwriter and International Vocalist of the Year nominee, Lisa McClowry (along with Special Talents winner Breanna Alyssa), will light up the evening with a heart-felt performance. This year, Tom and DonnaLee Itrich will be honored as WDSRA Foundation’s Hall of Fame Award winners.

The much-anticipated silent and live auctions will feature a new, exciting way to play: Electronic bidding! That’s right – using your smartphone or iPad, and you can bid from anywhere in the room, monitor your bids, and basically enjoy the evening while participating in the bidding. (No smartphone? No worries. Help will be available). Live auction items include exciting packages ranging from gourmet dining events to unique travel experiences.

WDSRA Foundation’s 2013 Hall of Fame Award winner was Comcast. Comcast was chosen for the honor because of their tireless efforts in support of the individuals with disabilities that are served through WDSRA programs.

But the best part of the evening is this: The warm feeling you will receive when the night is over, knowing you have made a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. To quote our friend Lisa McClowry, “When it comes from the heart – it goes to the heart.”

Tickets are $100/person (with open bar) and on sale at www.wdsra.com or by calling (630) 681-0962. Hope to see you there.
