A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter’s ‘Sweets & Treats for People & Pooches’ / Join A.D.O.P.T. for its Annual “Sweets & Treats” Valentine’s fundraiser at Fifth Ave Station. This Valentine-themed Cookie Walk provides participants the opportunity to create their own selections of tasty and decorative Valentine’s sweets from a wide variety of homemade tasty treats. Sweets are sold by the pound, with some items sold individually. Homemade dog treats will also be available for sale, along with A.D.O.P.T. T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies. International Festival / noon – 4PM / NCC’s Office of International Programs will host the 17th annual International Festival from noon to 4PM Sun., Feb. 9, in the College’s Gregory Arena at Merner Field House, 450 S. Brainard St. The festival will feature educational exhibits, international cuisine, performances and more. Tickets are $7 at the door or $5 in advance from the Office of International Programs, 48 E. History Speaks Lecture Series: The Last Years of Mary Todd Lincoln / 4-5PM / Donna Daniels as Mary Todd Lincoln will speak of her marriage to Lincoln and the traumatic years of the Civil War with a focus on the period of her life after the assassination during this presentation of the History Speaks Lecture Series to be held from 4 to 5PM Sunday, Feb. 9 at Naper Settlement’s Century Memorial Chapel, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville. The audience will learn about her insanity trial and subsequent hospitalization at Bellevue Place, a private, upscale sanitarium in Batavia, Ill. Advance tickets are $6 adults, $5 Naperville Heritage Society Sustaining members, youth 4-12 and students; on the day of the presentation, tickets are $7 adults and $6 Naperville Heritage Society Sustaining Members, youth 4-12 and students.
