The Art of Connecting – Heartfelt hints

-

To get out of this awful cold, just snuggle up with the people you love—friends, family and don’t forget about your significant other. Valentine’s Day is upon us.

haselhorstOur city’s calendar is packed with events going on that will surely warm you up.

Consider getting in touch with the heart of your community and communities abroad when North Central College hosts its annual International Festival at Merner Fieldhouse from 12PM to 4PM Sun., Feb 9. This popular family event promises to be another colorful display of art, songs and dance that introduces youngsters to many cultures from around the world. The event is $6/person plus a donation of canned food at the door.

From 6-8:30PM, Sun., Feb. 9, bring yourself or a special friend to “An Evening of Cabaret.” Held at North Central College’s Madden Theatre in the Fine Arts Center, tickets are only $30-$35. Susanne Petri has established herself as one of Chicago’s premier entertainers, performing to standing-room-only crowds at some of Chicago’s top stages. This show is the perfect start to a week of Valentine’s Day treats.

After a show, it is only natural to want to charm your valentine with good food in a romantic setting such as historic Meson Sabika, serving Sunday evening until 9PM.

Better yet, Meson Sabika is giving folks a special Taste of Spain from Fri., Feb. 14 until Sun. Feb. 16, in the Mansion for Valentine’s Day. The pre-fixed menu is $42.95 per guest (minimum of two guests). The regular dinner menu also will be available. Please RSVP: (630) 983-3000 x 2. I’m sure seats go fast for this lovely affair!

It is the month of love, a time to love your neighbor, family and community.

If you do not have anything special planned, that is OK! Treat yourself well. I know I will most likely be curled up and toasty, eating ice cream and watching a romantic movie. Stay happy and warm, my friends!
