At the beginning of New Year, everyone has resolutions. Some want to enjoy life. Some want to give back into the community. I say resolve to do both.
For example, the 11th Annual Chocolate Festival is going to be held at the Neuqua Valley High School Freshman Center from 10AM to 4PM, Sat., Jan. 18. The cost is $3 students, $7 adults, and $5 seniors.
Enjoy a fun family festival indoors and the sweet smell of chocolate in the background. Hosted by 360 Youth Services, the day-long showcase of chocolate and local talent is a great way to learn about this organization and how it provides life-changing programs for youth through prevention, education, counseling and shelter.
For me personally, chocolate also is a great way to start the year off right.
Indeed, laughter is also a therapeutic way to start the year off happily.
Starting from 7PM to 9:45PM on Sat., Jan. 25, the Naperville Education Foundation presents its annual Yuks for Youth Benefit. The performance features The Second City “Happily Ever Laughter” and the talents of students in the Naperville Community Unit School District 203.
Cocktails begin at 7PM. The hilarity begins at 8PM.
For more info, visit nef203.org/yuksforyouth.htm. The benefit will be held in North Central College’s Wentz Concert Hall. Tickets are $50 through Jan. 15 and $60 after.
These two events help our local schools and youth programs in an enjoyable and entertaining way.
Who doesn’t love to eat chocolate and laugh with friends? Even if you’re counting calories to start off the New Year, come anyway! The community and the organizations would love to have you. The chocolate is optional.
