Around noon today, investigators from the DuPage County Coroner’s Office removed the bodies of two victims from a room at the rear of the home. Three other victims remain hospitalized. Two are at Edward Hospital in Naperville, the third at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. The names of the victims will be released from the DuPage County Coroner’s office once a positive identification has been made.

Portions of the upper level of the home have collapsed into the lower level. Building inspectors from the city have evaluated the structure and it will be torn down once the necessary information regarding the cause and origin of the fire has been collected. Damage to the property has been placed in excess of $200,000 to the structure itself.

The occupants of a neighboring home were evacuated for a short time because of the risks posed by a ruptured natural gas line. There were no injuries to bystanders or emergency responders.

naper_fireNaperville Fire Department units remain on the scene of a house fire at 1212 Field Ct. in Naperville.  A neighbor called 9-1-1 at approximately 6:50AM this morning reporting flames and smoke from the rear of the two story single family home.  The first fire crew arrived on the scene within three minutes and reported possible victims trapped directly above the fire.  The alarm was upgraded to a Box Alarm as well as an Ambulance Box Alarm, bringing a total of three trucks, four engines, a heavy rescue squad and six ambulances to the scene along with seven Chief Officers.

The first arriving companies began a search of the building and were able to rescue one of the occupants, a 21 year old male.  He was transported in critical condition to Edward Hospital in Naperville.  Also transported were two other occupants of the home a 84 year old male and his 56 year old daughter.  They were also taken to Edward Hospital with what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Approximately ten minutes into the call all fire personnel were removed from the building due to concern of a possible structural collapse.  When firefighters re-entered the building they were able to find the bodies of two people, believed to be occupants of the building, in the rear of the home.

The DuPage County Coroner is on the scene along with investigators from the Naperville Fire Department Fire Investigation Team.  A cause for the fire has not yet been determined.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted at the scene and at other calls in the city by units of the Aurora, Downers Grove, Lisle Woodridge, Lockport, Plainfield, Warrenville and Winfield Fire Departments.  Additional help was provided by members of the Naperville Emergency Management Agency, Naperville Electric Department, NICOR, Naperville Public Works Department, Inspectors from the Naperville Transportation, Engineering and Development Department and the Naperville Police Department.
