Naperville’s Advisory Cultural Commission Workshop is set for Jan. 25, 2014


The City of Naperville’s Advisory Cultural Commission will host a public workshop beginning at 9AM on Sat., Jan. 25, 2014.

During the workshop, the commission will determine its initial award recommendations for the 2014-2015 Special Events and Cultural Amenities (SECA) fund grant.

The meeting will held  in City Council Chambers of the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St.

As with all City workshops, no public testimony will be accepted.

SECA Public Hearing is Feb. 22

SECA fund applicants will have an opportunity to speak before the commission regarding their applications during a public hearing taking place on Sat., Feb. 22, 2014. The meeting will begin at 9AM in City Council Chambers of the Municipal Center. Following public testimony, the commission will determine a final unified recommendation for each application.

The commission recommendation will be forwarded to the City Council for consideration at its annual SECA fund workshop in March. The City Council will formally approve all 2014-2015 SECA fund allocations at a regular City Council meeting in April.

About the SECA Fund

The City of Naperville encourages celebrations of community and cultural opportunities that focus on the heritage, diversity and character of the City. In support of these activities, the City offers funds, derived from the Citywide one percent food and beverage tax, for the purpose of aiding eligible non-profit organizations in providing new and continued cultural experiences. The SECA fund began in 2005.
