It’s a grand month for singing all the songs you learned as kid. Whether Rudolph or Frosty or Up on the Housetop, it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

new-pn-web-logoThis magical season of giving offers many opportunities to help fill the audiences of concerts that help make the season bright for entertainers, choruses, glee clubs and orchestras as they present their holiday music.

Here’s hoping everyone will attend at least one performance some silent night when Christmas concerts, The Nutcracker, holiday-themed theater productions take the stage. Even a Scrooge will embrace the time of year when Santa Claus is coming to town on special dates at the Riverwalk Santa House.

Still, you better watch out and you better not pout when you see all the hopefuls slated to run in the March Primary Election, eager to serve the Naperville community from DuPage and Will counties to Springfield to Washington, D.C. PN’s Election Guide will be work a in progress all month so voters can get to know all the candidates as they hit the New Year running. The 2014 Primary is March 18 and the Gubernatorial Election follows on Nov. 4. Pay attention!

And stay tuned as local governing bodies continue to meet this month, planning public policies and budgets. Again, thanks for watching.

Nearly every inspirational book suggests that happiness is born from gratitude and the giving spirit. Those little books often provide great lessons for the soul. Perhaps slowing down, watching the clouds, looking both ways before going forward, and above all, enjoying the simple traditions of the holidays to help others less fortunate will bring everyone together to remember the reason for this season.

Throw your heart at the sky, let it grow three times from pin points on the local map as seen from the North Pole. The Grinch welcomes you discover Naperville’s independent business community not only this season, but the whole year long.

Run, run as fast as you can to see every Gingerbread Man sculpture along Main Street Promenade and throughout the city’s sidewalks in downtown Naperville.

The generous Naperville spirit is on display.

Central Park is aglow and it’s likely to snow, it’s grand month for singing as we embrace the New Year.
