Weekend holiday events in downtown Naperville include light parade on Dec. 1

NOW!  – By day, downtown Naperville features an exhibit of 25 Gingerbread Man Sculptures. By night, experience the wonder of the season under the glistening magic of 300,000 twinkling lights!

Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend Kick-Off Friday – Discover amazing holiday offers. Enjoy big sales and big fun this special holiday weekend at downtown stores and restaurants.

Friday, Saturday & Sunday, November 29 – December 1 New! First-Time Holiday Market in downtown Naperville! Three days only! Discover the Washington St. Holiday Market with 40 vendors! Shop in Washington Corners, 47 E. Chicago at Washington. Hours: 4-9PM Friday, 9AM – 9PM Saturday and 10AM – 4PM Sunday. INFO: www.room363.net.

November 29-January 1 – Naper Lights, a pedestrian-friendly holiday light display will light up Central Park on weekends from Thanksgiving until New Year’s Day. Sponsored by Marquette Companies (developers of the new Water Street District) and Ryan Hill Realty, the display, a fundraiser for Naperville Sunrise Rotary, will feature several giant holiday light displays, decorated light poles and trees as well as a lighted arched entry and gazebo. The event is free to the public and donations to Naperville Sunrise Rotary will be welcomed. Visit www.napervillesunrise.org.

Saturday, November 30 – The Grinch comes to town starting at 10AM at Anderson’s Bookshop, located at 123 W. Jefferson Ave., in downtown Naperville. The month of Grinch is a free event hosted by locally-owned independent businesses.Guests are invited to stay for an 11AM appearance by singer and children’s entertainer Jim Gill, creator of six award-winning CDs of music play including Music Play for Folks of All Stripes, which was honored last year by the American Library Association. Be sure to watch for the Grinch in the Little Friends Parade of Lights when it winds along Main Street in downtown Naperville beginning at 5PM Dec. 1.

Saturday, November 30 — Playoffs! Go Cardinals! The 11-0 Cardinals face the 10-1 Pioneers at noon Saturday in Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, 455 S. Brainard St., Naperville. Admission is $8 adults and $4 for senior citizens, students and children ages 3 and older.

Saturday, November 30 -Special Note about Class 8A Championship at NIU in DeKalb – Naperville Central High School Redhawks play Loyola beginning at 7PM Sat., Nov. 30. Go, Redhawks!

Sunday, December 1 — Municipal Band Holiday Concert at the Wentz Concert Hall. The concert begins at 3PM. Admission is free.

Sunday, December 1 – Little Friends Parade of Lights in downtown Naperville! Family Day with parade at 5PM. Wrap up the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend by bringing the entire family downtown for a lively day of shopping, dining and visiting the exhibit of 25 Gingerbread men, leading up to the Little Friends Parade of Lights at 5PM. Make lunch and dinner reservations early to have a front row seat.
