The Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners discussed the proposed budget at its November 18, 2013 meeting and will vote on the adoption of the 2014 Budget and appropriation ordinance at their December 16, 2013 meeting.

The Park District’s annual budget is based on organizational and departmental initiatives guided by the District’s Strategic Plan and Master Plan. The 2014-2016 Strategic Plan was approved by the Park Board at the September 12, 2013 meeting and can be viewed on the District’s website at http://www.napervilleparks.org/strategic-plans. The Master Plan can be found at http://www.napervilleparks.org/master-plans.

Some of the key capital initiatives planned for 2014 include the completion of the Knoch Knolls Nature Center and site improvements, renovation of the ball fields at Ashbury Park, playground renovations at four parks, one new playground installation at Harris Fawell Park and site remediation and improvements at Sportsman’s Park. Additionally, as a first step in the development of the proposed Activity Center at Quincy Ave., the Park District will engage residents in a series of meetings to receive feedback about the indoor amenities desired and will work with an architectural firm to design the space.

“We look forward to 2014 as we continue to offer outstanding value to our taxpayers while operating from a strong financial position,” said Executive Director Ray McGury. Earlier this year, Moody’s Investor’s Service renewed the District’s Aaa bond rating, based on the District’s healthy reserve levels, favorable debt profile, and conservative revenue assumptions.
