The 9th Annual Napeville Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast is approaching fast. This year’s event is slated for Friday, December 6, at the Fry YMCA, 2120, W. 95th Street. The breakfast line will open at 6:30AM and the program will begin at 7AM. If you have never attended, the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast is an inspirational program of music, scripture and special guest speakers.
This year’s Master of Ceremonies is our very own Mayor A. George Pradel. He is sure to fire us up and set the tone for the morning. Our keynote speaker is Jarrett Payton, son of the late NFL Hall of Famer Walter Payton. Jarrett is a businessman, philanthropist, broadcaster, motivational speaker, former NFL and CFL running back and devoted husband and father.
Our soloist Katelyn Casey is a senior at Neuqua Valley High School. Katelyn is heavily involved in the music department where she is a soprano in the Varsity Chamber Singers, the top choir at Neuqua.
A special presentation will honor Dr. Kathryn Birkett, Superintendent of School District 204, for her years of service to the YMCA and the Naperville Community.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at your local Naperville YMCA’s. You can also purchase tickets on line at www.donate.ymcachicago.org/fry or by calling Jane Bowers at (630) 420-0960.
We’d like to thank this year’s sponsors, Friedrich Jones/Overman Jones Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Hillshire Brands and the School of Performing Arts.
Operation Turkey Drop
Operation Turkey Drop also is underway at the Kroehler and Fry YMCA’s. We are asking for donations of gift cards and nonperishable items to help families on our fee assistance program with their Thanksgiving Dinner. An average of 70 families per year receive a box with a gift card to purchase a turkey and fresh items, plus all the sides and desert. Center pieces will be made at our upcoming Family Nights on November 15. For more information, call (630) 904-9595.
