Video Voice – Racing through Naperville

by Jane Wernette

On Sunday, November 10, 3,500 runners will step to the start line on the campus of North Central College for the first Naperville Marathon & Half Marathon sponsored by Edward Hospital.

New NCTV17 LogoNCTV17 is excited to bring the community LIVE coverage of this historic race starting at 6:50 AM as the runners prepare for their journey. Over the next five hours NCTV17 cameras will follow runners around the course as it weaves its way across Naperville, through both the Greene Valley and Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserves back to the finish line at North Central College. This course is not only scenic and challenging but has been certified by the USATF as a Boston Marathon Qualifier for 2015.

Throughout the race, NCTV17 cameras will follow runners of both the half and full marathon, marking their progress, providing commentary at specific check points, showcasing exciting finish line moments and conducting post-race interviews. NCTV17 will also share stories of select participants through pre-recorded “Marathon Runner’s Stories.” These segments include interviews with a pace runner, a man running in support of Lupus research, the City of Naperville running team, an Olympic hopeful, and many more.

Residents will be able to watch the broadcast on Channel 17 on Comcast and WOW! and Channel 99 on AT&T. Viewers across the country and around the world can also tune in to watch this race LIVE at NCTV17.com.

If you can’t tune in on November 10, you will still be able to catch highlights of the race and the runners’ stories when NCTV17 airs an edited version of the LIVE broadcast throughout the month of November.

NCTV17 would like to thank the City of Naperville SECA Fund for their support of the LIVE broadcast as well as the many local businesses who sponsored the broadcast.
