The Art of Connecting – Grateful for good meals and great company

-

November is the month to really open your heart and give to others. I don’t mean to sound sappy. Even the little things like saving the last piece of cake for another co-worker can really brighten someone’s day.

haselhorstOne event I am particularly interested in is the 2013 Casa de Luz / Charity Event for Children in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The fundraiser takes place at Meson Sabika restaurant. Ginny and Neil Gerald and Gerald Nissan Subaru Kia Hyundai will be hosting at 6PM Wed., Nov. 6. Tickets are $100 per person.

The funds raised will help build a daycare center in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Children, without daycare, are left to either walk the streets, or are locked up while their mothers are working.

The community is invited to cocktails, dinner, live auction and to learn about another important cause to help keep children safe. Casual attire is most appropriate. For additional information or to RSVP, contact Lisa Hoofnagle at (630) 907-4002.

Interestingly enough, Meson Sabika keeps giving back with its annual Thanksgiving dinner. This is a time when the folks at the mansion graciously open their doors for folks in need—whether financial, emotional or loneliness on the holiday. As is tradition, the staff and volunteers will serve a complimentary turkey dinner with all the trimmings.

Reservations are required. Please call (630) 983-3000 x2 to make one. If you know of a friend in need, don’t be afraid to spread the word.

There is nothing I love more than a good meal with great company. As this time of the year, be reminded of all individuals at home and around the world who may not be afforded this luxury.

Have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving.
