North Central College Homecoming Convocation / 4:15PM /North Central College will host its Homecoming Convocation at 4:15PM Friday, October 25, on stage in the Wentz Concert Hall at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave.
Josh Stumpenhorst of Oswego will be honored with its 2013 Alumni Recognition Award. Also being honored during North Central’s Homecoming are Outstanding Alumni Award recipients Charles Bartsch of Washington, D.C.; John Giannini, Ph.D., of Mullica Hill, N.J.; Steven Hoeft of Naperville; the Rev. Dr. Tracy Smith-Malone of Aurora; and William Soper, M.D., of Arlington Heights. Wilber C. Harr, Ph.D., will be honored with a posthumous Wall of Witness honor.

Football: Crosstown Classic Naperville Central vs. Naperville North / 7:30PM / North Central College hosts the annual Wes Spencer Crosstown Classic between Naperville Central and Naperville North high schools of Naperville Community Unit School District 203. Halloween Trolley Rides / Celebrate all things spooky! Come for treats, fun and wear your costume. Anderson’s Bookshop is offering haunted trolley rides leaving from their Naperville store at 123 W. Jefferson Ave. Rides leave the Naperville store at 6, 6:45, and 7:30PM on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26. Special readers will be onboard with stories geared to family audiences. Authors James Preller (Home Sweet Horror) and Charlotte Gunnufson (Halloween Hustle) will be in the store to add to the fun. (Preller only appearing Friday evening.) Halloween Trolley Rides are $9 per rider per 1/2 hour ride. Tickets will be available at Anderson’s in Naperville. Each trip departs from Anderson’s Bookshop in downtown Naperville. Naperville Crime Stoppers Running Scared 5K / 8AM / The Naperville Crime Stoppers Second Annual Running Scared 5K Costume Run and Walk will take a bite out of crime at 8AM Sat., Oct. 26, 2013. Park District’s Halloween Happening / 1-4PM / A Naperville Park District tradition for more than 30 years, Halloween Happening will take place at the Grand Pavilion at the Riverwalk from 1 to 4PM on Sunday, October 27. Downtown Trick or Treat / 3-5PM /Downtown Naperville hosts their popular Trick or Treat event on Sunday, October 27 at a new time, 3 to 5PM. (Note the new time for the event this year as was printed correctly in the print edition of PN and the DNA advertising.) Costumed goons and goblins, along with their parents can wander door to door in the downtown business district and receive candy treats. In addition to the candy treats, families can also hop on board the Trick or Treat trolley which will be circling downtown, from 2:30-5:30PM, free of charge, compliments of the Main Street Promenade. There will costumed characters, crafts and photos, too, at the Main Street Promenade. Activities begin at 3PM and go until 5PM, or until the candy runs out!
