Lions Club Candy Day / Candy Day returns! Naperville Noon Lions and volunteers will be throughout the community on Friday, October 18, and Saturday, October 19, for Candy Day.
Lions will be giving away rolls of candy and accepting monetary contributions to be used in helping the visually and hearing impaired. It is almost impossible for those who can see and hear normally to fully understand what it is like to be visually or hearing impaired, but they can help through their support of Candy Day. Any individual wishing to join the Lions in their fight against the effect of vision and hearing loss should contact the Naperville Noon Lions Club.
‘Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe’ / 8PM / ColorBox Theatre’s first production, “Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe,” will run October 18-20 at The Center Stage Theatre in Naperville.” Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe” invites audiences into the dark mind of the famous American poet and author. During the show, Poe attempts to desperately convince himself and the audience that he is not mad. These efforts lead the show into highly theatrical adaptations of the famous writer’s finest stories: “The Raven,” “The Fall of the House of Usher,” “Silence” and “The Tell-Tale Heart.” In line with its mission, ColorBox Theatre features a cast of emerging artists from a variety of backgrounds, including experienced actors, a Microsoft consultant and a high school theater director. Kurt and Michelle Konow are directing the production.

All Hallows Eve: Village of Fear / 6-10PM / Experience two of the darkest nights of the year with haunting creatures, eerie entertainment and must-see horrors from 6-10PM. Walkers will step off from Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner, at 1:30PM to walk a 3.1-mile (5K) route. Soup’s On! / 11:30AM – 4:30PM / Enjoy a tasty array of delicious foods and desserts from more than 20 of the area’s most popular restaurants while helping to support local families in need of food and shelter. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Naperville, the sixth annual Soup’s On! fund-raiser will be held from 11:30AM until 4:30PM on Sunday, October 20, at Naperville Central High School, 440 Aurora Avenue. All-day children’s activities will be sponsored by the DuPage Children’s Museum, and musical entertainment will be provided by local award-winning high school choral groups.
