PN Reader offers one cure for cell phone addiction:  When dining out with a group everyone must put their cell phones away. The first person who reaches for their cell phone picks up the bill. After hearing this idea, I thought how much fun it would be to have someone out side of the group dial the cell phone number of the most addicted one of the group just to watch them squirm. —Charlie Brown

To Kindness in Naperville Post: I recall about 10 years ago I was in a department store in Naples and approached the counter to pay for my purchase. A lady came up behind me with kids and I could tell she was in a hurry. So I asked her if she would like to check out ahead of me. And she did. After she walked away and I paid for my purchase, the clerk said, “Wait a minute. I have a gift for you.”

She reached under the counter and brought out a kit of ladies talcum powder and bath oil. She said the store wanted to give me a gift for a Random Act of Kindness. I couldn’t believe it. Never heard of such a thing. But I will always remember that incident. And I went back often to that department store. —Bev Frier

To PN Editor:  It was nice to meet you Friday (Oct. 4, 2013) at the Women’s Leadership Summit at Benedictine University.  Following our conversation, I checked out the Positively Naperville website.  You should be very proud of it — it has a very inviting look and feel, and it’s full of great information.

When we chatted on Friday, I mentioned to you that I live in Westchester, which is about halfway between Naperville and the Loop.  I also mentioned that my husband and I subscribe to the Chicago Sinfonietta’s season, and that I prefer to attend these concerts in Naperville rather than downtown Chicago.
There are several reasons for my preference. First, parking is free in downtown Naperville in the municipal garages, while it’s $20+ at the municipal garages in Chicago.  Second, Wentz Concert Hall is a uniquely intimate venue.  While there are some performances that require a larger hall, it’s great to take advantage of the smaller venue when possible.  And the acoustics at Wentz are unbeatable!
Symphony Center and the Harris Theatre are wonderful venues, and I enjoy attending performances at both of them.  However, all other things being equal, if I’m given the option of Wentz, I’ll be sure to make that choice.  —Annette Freund
