The Summer Place Theatre received more than 50 spooky stories submitted by local youth for its first ghost story contest, expected to become an annual happening in conjunction with “Ghost Stories in the Park…in the Dark.” Four local students received recognition and professional storytellers read their stories on stage at the Naperville Riverwalk Grand Pavilion.

First Place: Angelina Lee, Lincoln Junior High, age 13, “Night of the Moans.”
Second Place: Caity Ridges, Ranch View Elementary School, age 8, “The Haunted Graveyard.”
Third Place: Annie Trompeter, Ranch View Elementary School, age 8, “The Sweater Ghost.”
Fourth Place: David Richardson, Ranch View Elementary School, age 8, “Ghost Repellent.”
The winners were awarded tickets to “Ghost Stories in the Park..in the Dark.”
The seasonal showcase of ghost stories continues this coming weekend with performances at 7PM and 8PM Friday, 6PM, 7PM, 8PM and 9PM Saturday; and 7PM and 8PM Sunday nights; October 11, 12, and 13.

This year the show features talented actors and storytellers from Naperville and the Chicago area. Director Suzanne Reeves of Naperville will join Linda Gorham, Leah Danoff, Piper Hope, Chad Sype, Don Gingold, Bob Dawson, and Ginger Terlep in entertaining the community.
The audience is encouraged to dress warmly and bring a blanket to sit on. Adults, teens, and families are welcome. The performance is not recommended for kids under age 5.
Tickets are $7 and include cookies and hot cider. The late show on Saturday evening and the Sunday show are recommended for ages 12 to adult, and the Friday evening and early Saturday evening shows are recommended for ages 5 and up.
