Road Construction Update: Washington Street resurfacing continues this week

Contractors anticipate they will be paving the final road surface on Washington from the West Branch of the DuPage River bridge south to Osler Drive beginning Wednesday, Oct. 9. Work will be occurring 9 AM to 3PM Once the final surface is in place, crews will be striping the area.

road-constructionBeginning Monday, October 7 contractors will be paving the first layer of road surface from Chicago Avenue to School Street. Work is expected to take place from 9AM to 3PM. From Tuesday, October 8 through Friday, October 11, concrete structure work will be performed anytime after 7AM daily. This work will necessitate lane closures to remain in place overnight to allow concrete to cure.

All work mentioned above will require daily lane closures. Motorists are encouraged to use caution in the work zone and allow for extra time to get to their destinations. No parking on Washington Street is still in effect for the project boundaries.

The project has remained on schedule thus far. A tentative completion date has been given of Friday, October 18, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances.
