It’s hard to imagine a volunteer more devoted than Nicki Anderson. Nicki came to 360 Youth Services to serve as a board member in 2011. She had attended an event where she heard an inspiring story about a formerly homeless young woman who had been helped by 360. Nicki says it was that commitment to homeless youth that really touched her.
Earlier this year, after the agency learned that federal funding for the girls transitional housing program was being significantly reduced and the program was in peril, Nicki spearheaded the “Dollar for our Daughters” campaign. The vital social media and personal appeal effort replaced most of the missing funding, ensuring that the young women who had nowhere to live remained in a supportive and secure home.
This summer, Nicki stepped in as Interim Development Director while 360 was searching for a new Development Director. She far exceeded the expectation of anyone in an interim position. She provided leadership on numerous levels, and initiated many new relationships on behalf of 360. She also has served on committees and most recently, she has been helping with the filming of the story of 360’s Transitional Housing Program.
“Nicki is an incredibly dedicated, energetic and passionate individual,” said Ron Hume, Executive Director. “We are blessed to have her as a member of our board and volunteer of 360 Youth Services.”
“I just go wherever they need me,” is a common phrase heard spoken by Nicki. The kids at 360 definitely need her and as she always says, “It’s about the kids.”
