October Editor’s Note

-

“Signs! Signs Everywhere!” Rock groups sing songs about signs that block out the beautiful scenery, creating distractions in the colorful landscape across this wide open country.

new-pn-web-logoThe signs we appreciate are the small, well-designed and informative ones that appear in shop windows, communicating Naperville spirit, keeping folks posted about opportunities to participate in this bustling community and just beyond.

A couple weeks ago it occurred to us how beneficial store windows are to help promote events with the printed word from one shopping destination to the next, so we photographed a bunch of signs in windows for an online post, considering our multi-media world. Thanks to businesses owners who provide the space.

Not only can window shopping be a great way to see what’s new, noting the signs of the times reminds folks that this community is continually moving forward.

Pay attention to road signs!

Of course, many directional and informational signs along the roadways keep our driving in check. Mind the signs to avoid fines.

During Public Safety Month, hats off to every professional who serves on our city’s nationally accredited police and fire departments that help keep our community safe. God bless all first responders who never know what an emergency situation might present when they answer the call.

Going forward, thanks to contributing columnists!

This month we welcome a number of new contributing columnists to PN. We are grateful for the different perspectives our columnists, past and present, bring to our pages as we try to preview the upcoming month. You’ll find several are focused on safety this month, too.

Try PN’s ‘Search for Something’ tool

The Positively Naperville website is updated every day. With the new technology and that big cloud up there somewhere, stories that are posted today will be saved in an archive at www.positivelynaperville.com.

For instance, for October perhaps use the “Search for Something” tool for “Public Safety,” “October Events” or “Naper Settlement.” Play around with the handy tool to check stories that keep residents connected to many choices of happenings in the city.

Many times you’ll find briefs on PN’s printed pages that are featured online with additional photos and longer stories, online.

During these challenging and competitive times of social media and TV sound bites, everybody wants to provide you with news. So do we and so does www.positivelynaperville.com.

Thanks for visiting PN’s website and thanks for reading this publication.

Thanks also for shopping, dining, banking, printing, entertaining and supporting fundraisers locally whenever possible.

Finally, for safety’s sake and crime prevention, pay attention.
