Before you head to work or school on Mon., Sept. 23, note that the City of Naperville plans to begin grinding Washington Street as part of the Washington Street Resurfacing Project. This grinding work and paving that will follow will cause traffic to be reduced to one lane in each direction between Osler Drive and School Street for the next few weeks.
To expedite the project and to maintain the safety of construction crews, motorists and pedestrians, work will be occurring anytime between 7AM and 5PM over the next few weeks.
Expect delays
Motorists should expect long delays as traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction under the operation of flaggers all day on a daily basis as construction continues. Once grinding is completed, the road will be repaved. The project is scheduled to be completed by mid-October, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances.
Did you know? The Washington Street Resurfacing Project began September 9 and includes the resurfacing and re-striping of Washington Street between Osler Drive and School Street as well as improvements to deteriorated curbs and sidewalks for the benefit of pedestrians. For the duration of the project, parking along Washington Street will be prohibited in the project work zone at all hours for the duration of the project to not only maintain a safe working area but to help keep traffic flowing north and south while any lane closures are in place. Signs are provided along Washington Street to indicate no parking throughout the construction zone.
All construction is weather dependent; notice of schedule changes as well as more information will be posted to the City’s website, social media, in the City’s Road Closure and Construction eNewsletter and in the local media when possible. For more information, visit www.naperville.il.us.
