Foreigner Bio
Foreigner was founded in 1976 by lead guitarist and Grammy Award-nominated songwriter Mick Jones. The band’s debut, self-titled album was released in 1977. A year later, the group released its second album, “Double Vision,” and in 1981 the album “4,” which included such hits as “Juke Box Hero” and “Waiting For A Girl Like You.”
In 2002, the era in which the original members of Foreigner came to a close. With much support and encouragement, Jones assembled a new powerhouse lineup. Jones, along with lead vocalist Kelly Hansen, led the group to a surge of astounding music that speaks to both hard-core Foreigner fans as well as younger generations.
With a new direction, Foreigner released the 2009 album “Can’t Slow Down,” which entered the Billboard chart in the Top 30 and produced two Top 20 singles.
Foreigner experienced a spike in popularity in 2012, when several hits were featured on the “Rock of Ages” soundtrack. Several more tracks were featured in other hit films, including “Magic Mike” and “Pitch Perfect.” This exposure resulted in a 400 percent increase in Foreigner downloads, with the band’s catalog outselling those of such bands as Def Leppard, The Eagles, The Who and Tom Petty.
