Lane closures expected to begin on Rt. 59

-

Lane closures expected in both directions on Rt. 59 beginning September 9

IL-Rt-59-Construction-Limit-Map-8IDOT has begun roadway construction on the three-mile stretch of Rt. 59 from Ferry Rd. to Aurora Ave./New York St. Initial roadway work includes the installation of temporary traffic signals, removal of existing medians and installation of temporary pavement.

Beginning Monday, September 9, contractors are expected to close a lane in each direction along Rt. 59 as they begin removing the median and replacing it with temporary concrete. Work can occur anytime between 7AM and 7PM and is expected to generate significant traffic delays. Motorists are encouraged to allow more time for traveling in the area.

In addition, contractors will be replacing existing traffic signals with temporary signals and utility relocations will continue in the area. Contractors will also be performing soil testing and removing any remaining trees that are located in the right-of-way.

Later in September, contractors expect to close the access to Dearborn Ct. from Rt. 59 as well as access from Rt. 59 to Argyle Lane in unincorporated Naperville sometime in October. Both access points are being closed as part of the expansion project and will not be reopened.  For more info, visit www.naperville.il.us/route59expansion.aspx.
