snowwhite1Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs / 7:30PM / Snow White takes the stage on the weekends of Sept. 6-8 and 13-15 at Naperville Central High School’s Little Theatre, located at 440 West Aurora Avenue, Entrance #3. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30PM. Saturday and Sunday matinees begin at 2PM. A sign language interpreter will be present at the 2PM show on Sun., Sept. 8. Advance tickets are $8 each and $10 at the door or if purchased on the Friday of the weekend performances. Tickets for the September performances may be purchased online at www.napervilleparks.org or in person at the Park District Administration Building at 320 W. DuPage Pads Run 4 Home / 8AM / DuPagePads 9th Annual Run 4 Home (10K and 5K Run, 5K Walk), will take place on Saturday, September 7. Funds raised from the Run 4 Home will help provide critical support services to individuals and families who are homeless in DuPage County. All are encouraged to come out and have a great time for a great cause. The race steps of at 703 West Liberty Drive in Wheaton. Race day registration will be available between 6 – 7:30AM. All Hallow’s Eve Volunteer Auditions / 10AM – 1PM /Volunteers are needed during All Hallows Eve, an annual Halloween event, which brings the most sinister and diabolical characters of the past, present and future to life in a haunted village over two nights Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19. For costumed volunteers, an informational open house will be held from 10AM to 1PM Saturday, Sept. 7 or from 4 to 8PM  Tuesday, Sept. 10 in Naper Settlement’s Meeting House, located at the northwest corner of Porter Avenue and Webster Street in Naperville. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. The dress rehearsal will be held from 6 to 9PM Thursday, Oct. 17 in the Meeting House. Non-costumed logistics support volunteers also are needed to help with ticket sales; greeters at various locations throughout the evening including crowd control positions and food sales. Cruisin’ for a Cause / 3 – 7PM / Car enthusiasts can enjoy classic cars at “Cruisin’ for a Cause” from 3 to 7PM this Saturday, September 7, to benefit Naperville CARES and Loaves & Fishes. Two hundred antique cars will fill the parking lot of Cress Creek Square in Naperville. There will be live entertainment from 4PM to 6:30PM provided by Dan Peters and the West Sidewinders (the 2011 Opening Act for Bon Jovi), raffle items, great food, and kid-friendly activities. Danielle Tufano and the “River Road Crew” from 95.9 FM The River will also be broadcasting live. Show hours are from 3PM – 7PM. Spectator entry is free.

Fund-Raiser

Friends of Steph & Shining Stars Fundraiser / Block Party at Kreger’s / 11AM to 3PM / Kreger’s will be hosting a block party to benefit RUMC Breast Cancer Research Fund #884 in memory of Steph Lesiecki and the Shining Stars Foundation in honor of Kevin Yndestad, Kreger’s will offer FREE Brats! Music will be provided by Naperville’s Wright Street Band. Raffles, cold drinks and dessert also will be available for donations of all sizes to raise money and awareness for friends who have lost and are currently fighting battles with cancer. All support is appreciated. Donations are 100 percent tax deductible.  Kreger’s Brat & Sausage Haus is located at 605 North Ellsworth Street.

BrightSide Theatre stages ‘Moonlight and Magnolias’ / 3PM / Moonlight and Magnolias gives us a true-to-life glimpse of how Gone with the Wind made its way to the silver screen. Film producer David O. Selznick, realizes the script is awful-the director doesn’t have a clue. Selznick calls Victor Fleming from The Wizard to Oz to direct, and taps playwright, screenwriter and “script doctor” Ben Hecht to rewrite the script. But Hecht hasn’t read the book. In five days locked in an office, the men frantically craft one of the most beloved screenplays! The performance will be staged at Meiley-Swallow Hall on the campus of North Central College, 31 South Ellsworth Street.
