The Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation summer vacation is coming to a close. We are putting the finishing touches on our program agenda for the next nine months. Planned presentation topics through May include schools, transportation, public safety, and public utilities. Also planned are looks at homeowner association legal issues, the state legislative agenda, and Naperville’s budget. In April we will talk with our City Council members, off the dais, to share and discuss concerns and interests.
Our goal for each month is to focus on a topic relevant to our neighbors, the people who call Naperville their home. In past years we have been proud to be on the leading edge of discussions around Smart Grid, teen drug abuse, state common core standards, and more. Our mission is to bring perspectives and information to our members that will help them make informed choices and decisions for their families and neighborhoods.
Our September meeting, scheduled for 8AM Saturday, September 21, (for coffee and networking) in meeting rooms B&C of the Municipal Center, will focus on our Public School districts. This will include an in depth look at some of the changes around compensation in the new District 203 teachers contract. We are still finalizing details, so keep an eye on www.napervillehomeowners.com and the Positively Naperville events calendar for updates.
Dialogue, not downloads, is a critical component for our meetings. By bringing in expert speakers to lead the discussions, we hope the information will be actionable, factual, and relevant to our neighbors. One last thing – we are committed to meetings that are concise, direct, and to the point. For Saturday morning meetings, our promise is to be done by 10AM so that we can all get on with our day. Hope to see you on the 21st!
