Hey, kids! Write an original Naperville ghost story for local competition

The SummerPlace Theatre is sponsors a citywide “Ghost Story Competition.”

It may seem eerie, but today a call went out from Naperville for the best ghost stories!

In cooperation with Summer Place Theater and the Naperville Park District, organizers of the competition are excited to announce their first ghost story contest for local students through Grade 12.

The annual production of Ghost Stories in the Park will be presented the first two weekends in October, Oct 4-6 and  Oct. 11-13 at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion.  The production is a family-friendly event where performers tell ghost stories to young and young-at-heart audiences.

The city-wide ghost story writing contest is designed for District 203 and 204 as well as local private schools. The winning stories will be performed live at a Ghost Story performance.

The author will get free admission along with 3 friends or family members.  Haunting, huh?

 Story Guidelines

-Stories can be either G-rated for age 4 and up, or PG-rated age 12 and up
-Length for G stories should be between 2-6 minutes, PG 5-10 minutes max
-Stories will be told by one person, the storyteller – can be a man, woman, or young adult
-We perform on a small black platform with minimal props and no sets, but we do have lighting and sound effects.
-Must be submitted to Lisa Wukitsch from SummerPlace by Sept. 25
-Include student’s Name, Age, Grade, and School at top of typed submission.
 

Be creative and learn!

Students will have an opportunity to learn the craft of writing for oral performance as well as get the rare chance to see their work performed live!Help spread the word to local youngsters to advantage of this spooktacular event!
