Schoenherr Gallery will showcase works by Illinois Watercolor Society

-

North Central College will showcase works by the Illinois Watercolor Society in the exhibit “Signature Works” Sept. 13 through Nov. 10.

IWS

The exhibit is free and will be open to the public in the College’s Schoenherr Gallery at the Fine Arts Center, located at 171 E. Chicago Ave., a block from the heart of downtown Naperville.

Artist Reception October 12

An artist reception will be held from 2 to 4PM Sat., Oct. 12.

“Signature Works” presents some of the most distinctive and skillful examples of contemporary watercolor being done by the signature members of the Illinois Watercolor Society. Each of these artists has achieved a high level of accomplishment in watercolor, yet they continue to strive for growth and improvement in their chosen medium.

These paintings showcase talents and techniques in the unique style developed by each artist. The artist’s personal vision is expressed through their choice of subject matter, color and composition.

The Illinois Watercolor Society was formed in 1981 to advance the education and caliber of watercolor throughout Illinois. While membership is open to all watercolor artists, signature membership status is gained through acceptance into multiple IWS National Exhibitions and awards received in that show. Signature members represent some of the best watercolor art being created in Illinois at this time.

For gallery hours or to learn more about the exhibit, contact Nickole C. Lanham, North Central’s gallery director, at (630) 637-5375 or nclanhammurray@noctrl.edu.

Art, art history and art education are among more than 55 undergraduate majors offered at North Central College.
