Walk to end Lupus Now / 9AM / Be part of the Walk to End Lupus Now™ and help raise critically needed funds and awareness for this unpredictable and life-threatening disease. The Walk steps off at 9AM August 10 along the Naperville Riverwalk. Half Price Sale at Second Chance Resale / 10AM – 5PM / Shout it out that Second Chance Resale Shop in Naperville will be holding a 1/2 price off the entire shop sale! Find the bargains galore every day at 1512 N. Naper Blvd, Suite 172, located in the Tower Crossing Shopping Center on the corner of Naper and Ogden Ave., on Naperville’s  northeast side.  Second Chance Resale Shops, arranged in the charming style of a small department store,  are managed by Kath Camasto to benefit Family Shelter Service.  FSS is a DuPage County-based agency providing help and hope for those affected by domestic abuse.  A second location is found at 1131 Fairview Ave. in Westmont.

Apple Pie Contest and Hometown Picnic at Naper Settlement / noon – 2:30PM / Do you have a favorite apple pie recipe?  Do you want to enter it in the Apple Pie Contest to be held during the Hometown Picnic held on the beautifully landscaped grounds of Naper Settlement? Pie entries need to be received at noon on the morning of Sat., Aug. 10, for the official judging (private)  in the Meeting House at the corner of Webster and Porter streets. Winners will be announced at 2:30PM near the gazebo where the public is invited to picnic. Complete details about advance registration are posted on the Naper Settlement website.  Meanwhile, begin going through your recipe box to find your favorite apple pie recipe and be prepared to bake for bragging rights!

Veggie Fest / 11AM – 8PM /The eighth annual Veggie Fest will be held on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11 from 11AM to 8PM at the Science of Spirituality Meditation Center, 4S175 Naperville-Wheaton Rd. The event will include an international food court, educational talks, demos, children’s activities, live music and more than 100 vendor booths. bikers PN17th Annual Rotary Ride / 6:30AM – 3PM / – Rotary Club of Naperville South will host the 17th annual Rotary Ride. Rotary Ride is a well-supported recreational ride for beginners and veteran riders with 20, 40, and 55-mile routes in addition to a 62-mile (metric century) route. All routes are SAG supported, and rest stops are fully staffed with nutritious food and drinks. Ride start time is 6:30AM .Families are encouraged to ride as a group on the 1¼-mile path around the park. Rotary Ride is a fundraiser benefiting local and international charities. Settlement Sundays / 1- 4PM / On Sundays beginning June 16, Father’s Day, through Aug. 25 (excluding July 14), admission includes do-it-yourself ice cream sundaes and a variety of family-friendly activities for all ages at Naper Settlement, 523 S.
