Pending weather and unforeseen circumstances, Mill St. between Jefferson and Jackson avenues will be closed to through traffic the morning of Friday, August 9, due to the installation of the Joseph Naper sculpture at the Naper Homestead site.
The closure is necessary to accommodate the installation of the 1,500-pound bronze sculpture. A large crane is necessary to maneuver the artwork into place on the site, located at the southeast corner of Mill St. and Jefferson Ave. Local access to driveways on Mill St. will be maintained. Motorists should plan accordingly and take alternate routes or allow extra time to get to their destination.
In addition, subsequent installation-related activities will require the parking spaces on northbound Mill St. between Jackson and Jefferson avenues to be closed from August 9 to August 22.
Dedication August 23
The unveiling and dedication of the sculpture, which honors Naperville’s founder, will take place at 4PM on Friday, August 23 at Naper Homestead; the public is invited and encouraged to attend.
