Real News – The dog days of summer

-

When you’re a dog, to get some relief or special care, your best friend might take you to County Line Animal Hospital at 2200 S. Washington Street in Naperville.

dekruiff_webThe animal hospital is a place my family knew well with our dog, Penelope. She came to our family from ADOPT, and everyone knew this very spirited long-haired Jack Russell Terrier. She was hard to hate, and on occasion equally as hard to love.

Penelope kept a clean yard, her protective instinct often got her in trouble with other animals, so off to the animal hospital we went.

County Line Animal Hospital has been healing and caring for animals since 1971. The original building was a small brick house along the DuPage River. Founder and Dr. Richard Kilburn purchased the house, converted it and in 1974, subdivided the lot into two parcels so he could get new financing to build the current building.

This 2,650 sq. ft. building has a reception area, three exam rooms, one ward, one treatment room, one surgical room, a pharmacy, a lab and an office.

Dr. Kilburn once treated a dog for leukemia and extended the animals life another six years. He and the two other veterinarians love the location of the hospital along the river.

But what matters most to Dr. Kilburn, “the great people of Naperville understand what is needed in the care of their animals,” which makes it easier to provide what is best for the patients.
