Empowering kids to realize endless possibilities!
Ann Rabin began volunteering with KidsMatter more than a year ago after she attended the inaugural meeting of ParentsMatter at Neuqua Valley High School last summer. A longtime school and community volunteer, Ann was soon to become an empty nester and was excited to continue to give back to our community. After connecting with KidsMatter’s Executive Director, IdaLynn Wenhold, Ann jumped right in.
Ann has embraced her role as the KidsMatter liaison with 360 Youth Services for the Power of Choice substance abuse prevention program. She has worked closely with the KidsMatter staff to promote the Skaters’ Picnic, the Volunteer Fair, and the Student Job Fair, blanketing the downtown area with posters and flyers and helping out at each event. Ann is currently working with KidsMatter partners to update the Collaborative Youth Team Community Resource Guide and is serving as a representative for ParentsMatter, a new community initiative created to empower parents.
Ann’s philosophy and commitment are inspiring.
“Kids are our future and we only have one chance to get it right,” she notes. “It is a much more complex world than when we were kids, and I think we need to support and empower our kids as much as possible to help them prepare for the future.”
According to KidsMatter’s Community Outreach Coordinator Kathy Schank, Ann is a genuine asset.
“KidsMatter is fortunate to connect with many volunteers at our events and programs,” said Schank. “We asked Ann to step up to be a “lead volunteer” within our general programming areas and she has done a tremendous job. Ann has a passion to help all youth and families succeed in many areas of life and we are so lucky to have her with us at KidsMatter!”
