In a video, Grant Wehrli announces candidacy to serve Illinois House in Springfield

-

Today Grant Wehrli officially announced his Republican candidacy for the Illinois General Assembly House District 41.  His reasons for running are featured in a video posted on his recently launched website “Grant4Illinois.com.”

Grant Wehrli is a lifelong resident of Naperville and a seven-year veteran of the Naperville City Council. While serving on the City Council, Wehrli has taken a leadership role on fiscal management, pension reform and economic development.

“The issues that we have successfully managed our way through during the Great Recession in Naperville are the same ones that the state has failed to address. Naperville is the example of how things should be done. Continued focus on the sustainability of pensions, reducing the tax burden while enhancing economic opportunities have led to a local economy and business environment in Naperville that is growing stronger each day.” Wehrli said in his news release.

“Naperville residents expect their government to be fair, affordable and transparent while providing a high value in services. The state should be doing the same for the good of Illinois residents, for the good of Illinois businesses and I look forward to bringing that leadership and experience to Springfield. Our better days as a state are ahead of us and with Naperville as a model we can make Illinois a great place to call home!” added Wehrli.

Born in Naperville, Wehrli has been married to his wife, Sharon (Heafey), for 21 years. They are proud parents of two sons, Jake, age 15; and Luke, age 9.

Wehrli’s involvement in the community has been lifelong. He currently serves on many boards including the Naperville Development Partnership, the Naperville Riverwalk Commission, the Naper Settlement Museum Board and Naperville Central Redhawk Hockey Association.

The Illinois 41st General Assembly district covers most of Naperville and the southern portion of Warrenville.
