That’s the news, Naperville!

-

Naperville News 17 is a weekly news program offering local perspectives and timely stories that celebrate all the things that make Naperville a great community. It’s the only news program focused solely on Naperville.

In June, Naperville News 17 filmed on location along the Riverwalk while their control room underwent some digital upgrades. Anchor Jen Hannon stands poised while reading the teleprompter. Setting up the lights for the shoot was a juggling act in itself. The lights get really hot, and the team had to constantly adjust them for white balance with the setting sun. The lights also attracted a constant barrage of flies, gnats and mosquitoes and the team was prepared, persistently spraying insect repellent.

Positively Naperville started following NCTV 17 in June, to tell this story. And, after being bumped from the July print issue, it finally found its way to the August print pages. Stories don’t always come to fruition due to content limitations, time and space. And, in this case, it gave Positively Naperville the opportunity to catch correspondents hard at work covering a multitude of local happenings.

Reporter Whitney Goodbred, a recent North Central College graduate, interviews Ray Kinney of MinuteMan Press for a story last June.

An ombudsman is Scandinavian in origin dating back to Viking times; and refers to a community representative; usually acting independently on behalf of an organization, body of elected officials, or civic group. Thanks Scandinavia for inventing ombudsman.
