Naperville Park District will perform IEPA Approved Phase I Remediation of Sportsman’s Park. This map details the areas of work planned at the park located at 735 S. West Street.
With receipt of approval from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) Site Remediation Program (SRP), the Naperville Park District will perform Phase I remediation activities within the area outside of the existing fence line, which was previously issued a no further remediation determination for lead only.
The purpose of the remediation in Phase I is (1) to obtain a no further remediation letter for all contaminants associated with the historic shooting practices for the Phase I Area, (2) remediate previously unknown lead impacts, (3) restore limited restricted areas to public use, and (4) perform the installation of construction staging elements in preparation for Phase II Remediation tentatively scheduled for 2014 (depending upon approval by the State of Illinois). The Phase I Remediation Area Restoration and Grading Concept Plan illustrates the proposed improvements related to restoration.
Remediation activities associated with Phase I are scheduled to commence in September 2013 and to reach substantial completion by 2014.
Information regarding the remediation of Sportsman’s Park is available at the Naperville Park District website.
More information relating to Phase II Remediation activities is anticipated to be available for posting on the Park District’s website in late 2013/early 2014 after IEPA approval.
