The inaugural Naperville Ale Fest taps off at 1PM

-

ale_fest_1_webBrewers will be showcasing their liquid wares at the inaugural Naperville Ale Fest Saturday, beginning at 1PM Saturday, at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St.

Parking is encouraged just south of the Settlement or north at the Naperville Municipal Center, just off Aurora Ave.  Tickets are $45 at the gate and include numerous tasting portions of hard to find and rare local brews.

Many local restaurants will also be present to complement the beer, including Heaven on Seven, Sullivan’s Steakhouse and Belgio’s Catering.

Patrons are encouraged to leave children at home, since the event is geared towards the 21 and over crowd.  The Fest is encouraging everyone to be socially responsible and utilize taxis and the train for transportation needs.  The Fest ends at 5PM and dinner reservations are encouraged at downtown restaurants.

The beer team has been working on the Fest for over a year and they’re becoming choked up on how it’s all been coming together.  Naperville has a rich liquid history and is always looking to celebrate its lagering pastime, especially at the Settlement and to benefit the Heritage Society.

Naperville, just after the Civil War, was once at the forefront of American brewing and lagering, producing famous brewers such as Adoplh Coors.  His salary in 1871 was $741.25, before moving west to Golden, Colorado.

“It’s like a little tent city coming together at Naper Settlement,” said Josh Seago, co-founder of the Naperville Ale Festival. “It ended up coming in with 88 brewers and 203 different craft beers.”

Many Chicagoland brewers will be on hand, including Naperville’s own Solemn Oath and Two Brothers located in Warrenville.  For a complete line-up of all the 203 beer offerings, visit http://www.napervillealefest.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Brewery-Beer-Line-Up.pdf

“I’m looking forward to when the VIP gates open because that’s when it truly starts,” said Judy Phillips, co-founder of the Fest. “Seeing the food vendors all get ready, it’s just going to be amazing.”
