At 11:25PM Sunday evening July 14, a resident of the duplex at 629 S. Main Street in Naperville called 9-1-1 stating his home was on fire. Dispatchers immediately sent a general alarm assignment of 3 Engines, 2 Trucks, 2 Medic Units, a Heavy Rescue Squad and 2 Command Vehicles. Naperville police arrived on the scene approximately 3 minutes later confirming a fire in the home and verified that all occupants were out of the building. The first fire units arrived two minutes later stretching a hose line to the front of the building and beginning a fire attack.
The fire was brought under control in less than 10 minutes and was declared out 20 minutes after the first units’ arrival. A member of the Naperville Fire Investigation Team is on scene to determine the exact cause and origin of the fire. The home is uninhabitable, pending an inspection by the City’s Transportation Engineering and Development Department. The 26 members of the Naperville Fire Department on scene were assisted by members of the Naperville Police and Electric Departments.
There were no injuries to either the residents or first responders. Damage is estimated in excess of $10,000.
