On Monday, July 8, the DuPage Hounds will be playing their 20th game of the summer taking on the U.S. Military All-Star Team.
The Hounds are a collegiate summer-based baseball team playing home games at Benedictine University in Lisle.
The U.S. Military All-Star Team is on their 2013 Red, White and Blue Tour and are headed to Lisle. The All-Star team was originally founded in 1990 with the U.S. Navy Baseball Club. This was the first of many teams that were formed within the services. The team features players on active duty, reserves, veterans and first responders. And, occasionally they take on professional and college players to fill out the roster and join their tour.
The team’s mission is “To Promote the Awareness of Americans in Support of the Honorable Sacrifices our Armed Forces make at the Tip of the Spear.” Baseball has been a part of the services since the Civil War when they would play in between battles. It has been a part of America since it has been called “America’s Pastime.”
The game will be played at Benedictine University at 7PM on Monday, July 8. The Hounds have a family friendly atmosphere where tickets are as low as $2.
