Pending weather and unforeseen circumstances, the U.S. Forest Service will utilize aerial spraying for gypsy moths throughout certain areas of Naperville June 24-26.
Spraying will take place roughly throughout the eastern and central portions of the City. A map showing the exact spray boundaries is available on the City’s website at www.naperville.il.us/
This work is part of an ongoing effort to minimize the invasive impact of gypsy moths in the state. The U.S. Forest Service will be utilizing airplanes to apply this aerial application. In Naperville, the treatment of choice is mating disruption (MD), a safe gypsy moth-specific pheromone that prevents male gypsy moths from breeding.
This treatment is completely safe for humans, pets and the environment. The public is advised that planes used to apply this treatment may be flying at lower than normal heights.
