Naper Nights / 5 – 10PM / Naper Night Community Concert Series from 5 to 10PM Friday and Saturday, June 21-22 at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville. Bring your blankets and chairs to enjoy this first weekend of our summer outdoor concert series. On Friday, June 21 come hear American English and rock out to your favorite Beatles’ tunes. Opening act Ska To Catch ‘Em All is a high energy ska band with a big brass section. Tickets are $10 senior/adult (13+), $5 youth (4-12). Righteous Hillbillies open the night on Saturday, June 22, with country rock from the ’70s through today, featuring the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty, the Allman Brothers and more. Then rock out to Heartache Tonight, an Eagles Tribute Band. Tickets are $15 senior/adult (13+), $10 youth (4-12). Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the “Taste of Naperville.” No outside food or beverages are allowed. Advance and on-line ticket sales end at noon on Thursday, June 20. Live Music at CityGate Grille / 8:30 – 11:30PM / Jive away your evening with live music at CityGate Grille. Eddie Stevens 3 to perform swingin’ favorites. Y Movie Night at Central Park – Madagascar 3 / Dusk / Spend some quality free time with your family this summer. Bring your friends, picnic dinner, blanket and bug spray for an evening under the stars. You might even want to order box lunches from one of the downtown Naperville eateries such as Quigley’s Irish Pub, right there near Central Park on Jefferson. Movies begin at dusk.

RentBrightside Theatre presents RENT / 8PM / This Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award rock opera shakes up the modern musical as we know it as it blazes across our stage. Based on Puccini’s La Boheme, Rent tells the story of one year in the life of a group of friends who are impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in the New York City’s Lower East Side. See just how much can change or doesn’t change in the 525, 600 minutes that make up a year. Performances held at the Theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall at North Central College, 31 S. Ellsworth. Casey’s Fires up the Grill / 10AM – 2PM / Casey’s Foods fires up its grill every Saturday and Sunday through October at Naperville Plaza, Gartner and Washington. Purchase reliable stand-bys — burgers, brats, steak and chicken tacos, etc. — and enjoy grilled specials every weekend throughout the summer and fall. Picnic tables provide seating under cover, too.

Cabernet Cabaret Outdoor Concert at Arranmore / 6:30PM /Outdoor music returns to ArranmoreArts for a third season with its Cabernet Cabaret Concert Series, kicking off on Sat., June 22 at Arranmore Farm & Polo Club in Oswego, 3 miles west of Rt. 59. The first concert, “Wild Things and Wanderlust,” features the return of popular Cabernet Cabaret artists and exciting new performers, who will lure concert goers out of their seats and onto the expansive lawn-turned dance floor. Attendees are encouraged to B.Y.O.P. (Bring Your Own Party), including a full spread of food, drink, blankets, chairs and small tables to enhance their outdoor experience. Wine and craft beer also will be available for purchase. Gates open at 6:30PM with the show starting at 8PM. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at www.arranmorearts.org. Children under 13 are admitted free.

step-up-web-DSC_1718Step Up for Autism / 8:30AM / Little Friends has just the event for you! The 5th Annual Step Up for Autism Walk takes place on Sunday, June 23, along the Riverwalk in downtown Naperville. This walk was started to raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorders and the proceeds help Little Friends to provide services to children and adults right here in your own community.
