Anderson’s Bookshop in downtown Naperville will present an upcoming program with Al Yankovic, known to millions as “Weird Al” and creator of dozens of humorous musical parodies. The popular entertainer has recently penned his second children’s book, “My New Teacher and Me,” his follow-up to 2011’s “When I Grow Up.” Yankovic visits Anderson’s Bookshop in downtown Naperville to celebrate his book on Wednesday evening, June 26, at 7PM. Anderson’s is located at 123 W. Jefferson Ave., in downtown Naperville, (630)-355-3665.
Known for more than thirty years as America’s premier satirist of popular music and culture, “Weird Al” Yankovic has had many careers. Advised by his own father to do whatever made him happy, Yankovic has accordingly been a comedian, singer/songwriter, music producer, actor, director, and writer—often all at the same time. Yankovic has won several Grammy Awards and has sold more comedy recordings than anyone else in history. He lives with his family in Southern California.
In “My New Teacher and Me,” Yankovic taps his fun and playful side to weave a picture book about a little boy with a big imagination and his new teacher who demonstrates little of it. It’s a back-to-school story with many laughs, for young and old.
This booksigning event with Al Yankcovic is part of Anderson’s Bookshops’ calendar of special author appearances. A purchase of the author’s book is requested and includes a number for the signing line.
