Naperville Sports Weekly presents first ever award show

-

Premiering on June 16 at 6:30PM, Naperville Community Television, Channel 17’s weekly sports show, Naperville Sports Weekly (NSW), will wrap up the high school varsity athletic year with its first-ever award show featuring the top plays, teams and athletes of 2012-13.

Alex Hockey Rink Low AngleTune in to this capstone episode to see which local athletes were named top male and female athlete of the year, which local teams won state titles and what team received the prestigious honor of “Team of the Year.” Each award is voted on by the NCT17 sports staff.

“This has been a banner year for Naperville Sports with two repeat team state champions and plenty of outstanding moments of athletic achievement,” said NSW host and producer Alex Symonds. “We are excited to recap the finest season in NSW history and recognize the athletes and teams that have made this year so special.”

The awards show will also announce the winner of Athlete of the Spring, who will be joining Gia Delassandro and Andrew Geers, the recipients of the Fall and Winter awards.

The sports staff has also gone through the highlights of the year, and has chosen only the most memorable moments for our NSW Top Plays of the Year to showcase on the program. That final strike in bowling to clinch the win, the hard-charging sack of the quarterback to end the half, the triple-play to close out the game – these are the snapshots captured by NCTV17’s sports staff that linger in the minds of athletes and spectators for years to come.

“The sports staff is continually amazed at the performances of our local teams and athletes,” said Will Armistead, NCTV17 sports director. “We’re enjoying this opportunity to revisit season six to declare the top athletes, teams, plays and moments from 2012-13.”

Like our dedicated athletes, NSW is taking the summer off, but will return in the fall for its 7th season when players once again don the pads, lace up the cleats and put on the school colors. Next fall, NSW will be back with a new set and a new twist in the show, but with the same great coverage. For the love of the game to pride of the school, from big plays to big upsets, tune in because you don’t want to miss the best of the best.
