Art Talk – Take a hike

-

Walking has long been recognized for its many benefits. Individuals can lower blood pressure, reduce stress, burn calories and profit from a healthier lifestyle by taking a leisurely stroll. The experience can be further enhanced when a progressive art exhibit is added to the mix, thus giving walkers a place to absorb the beauty of work created by skilled artisans while staying fit. If this sounds like the mind and body workout you have been searching for, stay tuned!

veneziaThe (sub)URBAN ART WALK, an exhibit of juried art that will be displayed in shops along Naperville’s main streets, is planned from noon to 4PM on Sat., June 15. Now in its second year, this collaborative effort between three area non-profits, Arranmore Arts, the Downtown Naperville Alliance (DNA) and the Naperville Art League (NAL), promises to present an exciting art experience while giving attendees the opportunity to discover and explore over 25 of Naperville’s unique shops and boutiques.

Sponsored by john greene Realtor, Naperville Bank & Trust and the DNA, the (sub)URBAN ART WALK gives the selected exhibiting artists a chance to compete for cash prizes when their work is evaluated by judges hired by the art walk’s organizers. Attendees will also be able to cast a vote for their favorites for the People’s Choice Award. Ballots, maps of artist locations and complimentary refreshments will be on hand at Liam Brex Design Studio, 222 S. Main, the starting point of the tour.

A great way to spend a summer afternoon awaits. Why not lace up your sneakers and take a step into Naperville’s sprawling gallery?

Editor’s Note / June 14:  Organizers extend their gratitude to the 25 businesses who’ve agreed to be a stop in this weekend’s Art Walk! Following a check-in at Liam Brex, visitors will be able to wander around downtown and see jury-selected artwork from local artisans and vote for their favorite. Winning artists will win prizes as will a lucky visitor. This free event is put on by the Downtown Naperville Alliance in partnership with Naperville Bank & Trust, john greene Realtor, the Naperville Art League and Arranmore Arts.

Liam Brex, now also home to Roseland Draperies and Interiors, is located at 222 S. Main Street next to Heaven on Seven and Dean’s Clothing.
